Frequently Asked Questions

What hardware do I need for DroneMobile GPS tracking?

In order to equip your fleet with DroneMobile GPS tracking, all you need is one of our telematics devices, such as the Drone X2MAX Module or the Drone XC Dash Camera.

Both of these products can be hardwired to your vehicle, installed with a compatible remote start/alarm, or plugged in using an OBD-II adapter. (OBD-II adapter coming soon for Drone XC-LTE dash camera).

What is difference between DroneMobile Premium and Tracking plans?

In 2025, DroneMobile introduced tracking-only plans. These plans are optimized for customers that intend to use DroneMobile for tracking only. This usually means that a DroneMobile device has been hardwired directly to the vehicle or installed with an OBD-II cable.

The advantage of Tracking-only plans is that you get 1 minute breadcrumbs during trips. This feature is not available with DroneMobile Premium.

In contrast, if your DroneMobile system was installed with a remote starter or alarm, you would want to select Premium in order to retain vehicle control features (which are not included with tracking-only plans).

Do I need a subscription for DroneMobile GPS Tracking?

Yes, you will need a DroneMobile Tracking or Premium or greater plan.

What is "geofencing"?

Geofencing in fleet management is the use of virtual boundaries, set up using GPS technology, to monitor and manage vehicle locations. When a vehicle equipped with a DroneMobile GPS device enters or exits a designated geofence, alerts are triggered, enabling fleet managers to track location, improve efficiency, and enhance security.

Do DroneMobile systems monitor vehicle health status?

Yes! DroneMobile systems can be customized to monitor many aspects of your vehicle's health.

By default, all DroneMobile systems will monitor your battery health and alert you if the voltage falls below a certain threshold.

In addition to battery, DroneMobile systems can track any of the following (features may vary by vehicle).
• Odometer
• Fuel level
• Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
• Tire pressure
• Doors
• Hood
• Trunk
